The McKensie River watershed in the Cascade Mountains forms two gorgeous waterfalls within the Willamette National Forest, the first being Salalie Falls and the second, Koosah Falls. The name “Koosah” comes from Chinook jargon meaning “sky”.
Dropping into a deep pool, this 70’ falls is located on a well-maintained trail just west of the Cascades National Scenic Byway off Highway 126, near Sisters, Oregon. Adding to the drama of this magnificent falls, the diffused light created by the smoke of the nearby “Lookout Fire” made for a surreal ambiance.
